Ken brings up a great point for discussion. I have never actually thought about how Wally's was the only "game in town". Perhaps the proximity to Floyd's Barber Shop, The Diner, Fred's Drugstore, the courthouse, the Mayberry Cinema, Mr. Goss's drycleaning store, and Mr. Foley's butcher shop made it so convenient that people did not have to drive. Afterall, remember Aunt Bee and Opie taking their specially priced frozen beef to Mr. Foley's butcher shop via wagon when the Taylor's freezer broke-down? Just a thought...
