Great news folks! I just received my latest copy of Learn a Month Magazine and this issue features various customs and traditions for weddings around the world. So if any of you are planning a wedding, here are a few tips.
In England it is good luck to find a spider in the bride's wedding dress. ( Sure hope Gomer never marries Malcolm Merriweather,s sister.) Ancient Romans studied pig entrails to determine the luckiest time to marry. ( I think the entrails were then served to wedding guests.) For good luck, Egyptian women pinch the bride on her wedding day ( They picked up this custom from Ernest T. Bass ) Peas are thrown at Czech newlyweds instead of rice. ( But it is considered bad manners take a pea in front of the newlyweds. ) One of history's earliest engagement rings was given to Princess Mary, daughter of Henry VIII. She was two years old at the time. ( They got that idea from the Darlings.} In Denmark, brides and grooms traditionally cross-dressed to confuse evil spirits. ( This could be a bit confusing on the honeymoon as well.) Moroccan women take a milk bath to purify themselves before their wedding ceremony. ( You don't have it pasteurized - just up to your. neck.)
