We were at our 50th event this summer with the squad car and had an interesting conversation. A guy came up to me and told me that his dad went to school with the actor who played Otis Campbell and they graduated together. I asked him where his father went to school and he said, "Right here in Eau Claire." I had to tell him that Otis Smith was not from Eau Claire. He became rather angry and insisted it was true because his father always told him that they were classmates here in Eau Claire. I didn't want to make a moulage out of the discussion and besmirch his father's name but I did say again that Hal Smith was not from Eau Claire. Another gentleman was listening and he told the guy that he thought his father must have been quite a story teller. Needless to say the fellow walked away in a huff.
