I spent a couple of fun days in West Bend, Wisconsin, about 250 miles from Eau Claire. I was invited to give my Mayberry presentation at a men's breakfast group at a large Retirement Village Community. Folks there took us out to a very nice dinner the night before and then put us up for the night at a guest room at the village. The presentation/breakfast went very well. I was very happy that my cousin and his wife, both from my high school days, were able to be at the presentation. When it was time for me to leave the gentleman in charge gave me a gift bag. He said that they decided to give me a special Mayberryish gift rather than my usual fee. He also said I could not open it until I got home. When we got home and I opened the bag it was full of crumbled up dollar bills. When they found out I donate my fees to my hometown library, they decided to double it. What a wonderful gesture. We will be heading back that way to Milwaukee as I received a call today from a lady in Milwaukee who asked if I could give my presentation at their church in Milwaukee. Apparently someone at the breakfast called her and recommended me.
Also today I made my weekly visit to our city "libary". There was a TV camera set up outside the door and the camera man stopped me and asked me if they could interview me regarding my thoughts on tattoos. Now being there were no tattoos in Mayberry and being I was wearing my Mayberry Union High jacket, I could not pass up that opportunity. Not sure when it will air as they are still working on the story. But it will be grand that all the viewers will be able to see that beautiful jacket. I wanted to turn my back to the camera so they could see "Mayberry Union High" on the back.
