Floyd said that Andy was pretty stupid when he was a child, because he used to try to eat shaving cream, mistaking it for ice cream. How even a small child could make such a mistake seems preposterous, as soft serve ice cream did not exist until 1938. It would have been more believable for the writer to have said whipped cream, not ice cream.
