I recall once seeing an interview with Ron Howard in which he was asked how he
made the transition from child actor to adult actor, a very rare feat in
Hollywood. His reply was that most child actors are never taught the art of
acting, they are merely taught to PERFORM. When they get a little older, say
around puberty, they lose their "cuteness" and can't find work anymore because
they never really learned how to act. Ron credited both of his parents (who of
course were actors themselves; indeed his father Rance still keeps quite busy
acting today) with teaching him his craft.

Speaking of child actors, a few years back I watched a cable documentary called
"The 50 Greatest Child Actors of All Time" or something like that. Might have
been on VH1. I do not know what idiot(s) came up with the "50 greatest" but
Ronny Howard did not even make the list, and their choice for the "greatest
child actor of all time" was the three ADULTS who perform the voices of the
kids on The Simpsons.
