ITA Janet. Ron Howard was as good as Shirley Temple or Jane Withers, two child 
actors from the 30's. If you look at those Olson twins, they often seemed to 
look off camera so one can assume they were being coached. Or Gary Coleman. He 
would say something cute then kind of grin or make a face as tho he was saying 
"aren't I cute?". In addition, RH didn't have the one liners and catch phrases 
everybody has today. Even Richie C would, when angry, call someone "buck oh" 
and when in love sang "Blueberry Hill". The Olson twins as Michelle would say 
ooh, you're gonna get it mister" or "sister" depending upon who it was. The 
Griffith show didn't do that. Except for Leon and his pb&j sandwiches nobody 
did the same thing more than a few times.  It made things more realistic, IMO.
