Nice job everybody on naming several various types of birds mentioned in Mayberry. Here is a list of the ones correctly named so far:
Albatross Canary Chicken (includes roosters) Crow (both shot at and "eaten") Duck Eagle Goose Hawk Loon Mockingbird Owl Parakeet Pheasant Quail Songbird Starling Turkey Opie's pet bird in episode #1 is a parakeet (the sponsor doesn't know that parakeets don't drink coffee), not a canary, however canaries are mentioned in three other episodes. Which episodes they are, I leave for one of you to name. In addition to Ollie's goose down pillow, Andy mentions "Northern honkers" which is another reference to geese, and in addition to the duck pond, ducks are also mentioned in Opie and the Carnival (the kind you shoot) and Opie Steps up in Class (the kind you buy in the store). I am thinking of seven more types of birds mentioned on TAGS that haven't been named yet. Put those thinking buckets back on and see if you can come up with them. One was mentioned a few days ago, but that was before I asked the question.
