Major Characters Locked in Jail: In response to Paul's trivia question, this is probably best answered by watching Season 1, Episode 16, "Andy Saves Barney's Morale". In that episode Andy had to go out of town for the day and left Barney in-charge. When Andy returned and saw most of the citizens of Mayberry locked-in the jail cells, Andy's comment to Barney was "what'd you do; throw a net over the whole town!?" The "desperate criminals" in that episode were Opie, Aunt Bee, Mayor Pike, 'Ole Judd, Otis, and Chester. Jack Prince (a.k.a. Ben Stool the Moonshiner) was also locked-up and I believe a regular on TAGS. Of course, Andy and Barney have accidentally locked themselves in the jail cells on occasion. That's 9 of 12.
