Ken, there is one car that I believe hasn't been mentioned. At the end of "Mayberry Goes Bankrupt," a convertible (with Nice Dress Nellie and a man at the wheel) pulls up to Frank Myers' house. Andy thinks it's because they are admiring the house after all the work the men did on it. Instead, I think they were in the wrong town. With the long list of convertibles found in Mayberry, it got me to thinking about why there were so many. My theory is that convertibles allowed the camera to see the people in the car better, so they were chosen more from a technical standpoint of being able to better shoot the scene. Otherwise, I don't think they would have used so many of them. Do you think I may have a point?
