Today I received a very unique and wonderful TAGS gift. I was at an electronic store the other day to arrange having a PA system put in my squad car. A fellow I have met just one time drove up and told me was going to bring something for me. He came today. He handed me a very used copy of "The Andy Griffith Show Book" by Ken Beck and Jim Clark.This will be my third copy. However, this one is very different. This fellow had been collecting all sorts of newspaper clippings, advertisements, magazine stories,and photos that all pertain to TAGS. He began collecting them in 1964. He had all these old clippings and pictures pasted throughout the book. He also had numerous personal notations that he had made over the years regarding guest stars, special features, etc. It is truly a great collection of old Mayberry tidbits. Newspaper accounts on the passing of Hal Smith and other stars are included. He no sooner left when another guy who comes to car shows pulls up in my driveway. He had twenty really nice photos of me that his girlfriend had taken at some car shows and also a Scrapping Book that she made with many pictures of my wife and me with our squad car. This fellow also wanted one of my books and when I told him I would be donating the money to my hometown library, he threw in another five bucks. These are the kinds of good folks I meet every week.
