Excellent work so far. In case anybody is a day or two behind, the challenge is
to name a game or sport mentioned on TAGS that requires a ball. Note that I
said "mentioned," not "seen."

So far the following correct answers have been given. I'll give episode titles
for the sake of completeness:

GOLF (The Clubmen, Opie Steps up in Class, Bargain Day (golf ball Gomer finds
in the freezer))

BASEBALL (many episodes, starting in the very first episode, The New
Housekeeper)

FOOTBALL (Opie's Piano Lesson, Andy and Opie's Pal, Goober Goes to an Auto Show
et al)

TENNIS (The New Housekeeper, Helen the Authoress, Opie's Steps up in Class,
etc.)

BASKETBALL (Opie and the Carnival et al)

BOWLING (Howard the Bowler, Goober and the Art of Love et al)

PING PONG / TABLE TENNIS (The Inspector)

POOL (The Church Benefactors) (...and the losers buy the beer!)

POLO (Helen the Authoress, A Singer in Town)

VOLLEYBALL (Class Reunion)

Margaret mentioned the pinball machine at the Tip Top Cafe (seen in Barney
Mends a Broken Heart) and while nobody in any episode as far as I can remember
says the word "pinball," she gets honorable mention because in a previous quiz
I challenged everyone to identify where a pinball machine can be seen, and
nobody got it until now.

Larry mentioned the SHOT PUT and I hadn't considered that one, but it's
definitely a type of ball; however I can't think of an episode that mentions it
— somebody help me out with this one. I suppose MARBLES could also be
considered balls but I can't at this moment think of which episode they might
have been mentioned in either.

BTW we don't know what sport the Mayberry Bears played, or even if they were a
sports team at all. They're mentioned only once, when Andy checks the
newspaper to "see how the Mayberry Bears made out." We are never told the name
of Mayberry Union High's sports teams, but the yearbook is called the Cutlass,
which suggests that the high school team is probably called the Pirates or the
Buccaneers or something along those lines, and it is extremely unlikely that
Mayberry had more than one high school.

I'm thinking of four more that haven't been named yet. Keep those buckets on
your heads. Here's a hint: one is a game that is similar to bowling.
