Don Knotts was indeed from Morgantown, WV but Barney never mentions Morgantown. Aunt Bee does, though, in Banjo-Playing Deputy. Jerry tells the Taylors that he was born and raised there.
I don't recall Emmett or anyone else ever mentioning Mt. Airy, however Mt. Airy newspapers can be seen in a couple of episodes. I expect the answer Orville is gropin' for is Goober's mention of a tractor show in "Jasper" in the episode Andy's Rival. George Lindsey was from Jasper, AL, however it seems extremely unlikely that Mayberryites would drive all the way to Jasper, AL for a tractor show. There are many, many towns and places in America named after a Revolutionary War hero named William Jasper (I myself live in Jasper County, MO) so it's more likely Goober was talking about a different Jasper. It's undeniable, however, that it was inserted into the script as a way for George to say "hey" to the folks back home. There is one other major TAGS actor whose character who utters the name of their birthplace in a TAGS episode. Who can name this actor? (Might be male, might be female).
