I would have to say that the part of the good old days that I don't really
miss is the lack of air conditioning. When and where I was growing up it was
quite rare to be in an air conditioned place. Summer, especially trying to
sleep, was miserable when it got over 100. In the 12 years I attended my
home town school, we never had A/C. About the only place with A/C in town
was the bank and the movie theater. Most other businesses just had ceiling
fans, and open windows. Now a days it is almost impossible to find a place
without A/C. People leave their air conditioned home, drive to the office in
an air conditioned car, and work all day in air conditioning. Drive back to
their air conditioned homes in their air conditioned cars.

Well you get the idea.

Orville Hendricks - Mount Pilot Butter and Egg Man. Now a days, even
chicken houses are air conditioned.
