I have always heard that Andy did not want outtakes and they were destroyed. In the book, Mayberry 101, it describes the scene were Andy and Barney are trying to sleep in the Darling cabin, hoping to catch Ernest T. The snoring by the Darling boys is keeping them awake. The book says that Andy and Don were cracking up so much that Andy ended up on the floor laughing. They had to shoot the scene several times before they got it right. I would have loved to see that in outtakes! Bee in New Concord, OH
