Something that really never made any sense to me is why in the world would Sarah ever take the job as the telephone operator. She was "on call", pardon the pun, 24/7 365 days a year. The poor lady must have had to eat cold food all the time and she probably rarely took a bath. How did she get any sleep? And did you notice hour efficient she was? All you had to do is pick up the receiver and click it just a couple of times and she was right there. And she knew every one's number as most of the time people said the name of who they wanted to call. The poor lady must have been sitting by that switchboard all the time. And then to top that off, none of us even got to see what she looked like. No recognition at all. I think she should have been "Miss Mayberry".
