It was brief, it was in 1987, and it was in his home in Beverly Hills. He was drunk but feeling fine and light on his feet, I spent an afternoon with Lee Van Cleef (one of the carnival bad guys) and his wife. They lived in a ranch style home with a long family room. On one long side was picture windows overlooking a garden. The other side was wall to wall photos. Every single photo was from his dying scenes from his movies. Some color, some black and white, no two from the same movie. I noticed no other photos of him throughout, just those dying scenes.....most interesting.
