A lot of Saturday afternoons I spend listening to radio station WDCB because
they play 4 hours of old time radio. If you have never listened to it, you
can hear the latest show at nostalgiadigest.com every week. Or just listen
live every week at 1 P.M. CDT at www.WDCB.org.

Anyway, today they were playing an episode of the old time radio show "The Six
Shooter" starring James Stewart from 15 April, 1954. In this particular show
James Stewart (his character is called "Britt Ponsett") decides to attend
Easter services at the local church. While the congregation was singing the
hymn "Leaning On The Everlasting Arms", the church organ began to sound
something terrible. Finally the organ player just gave up in disgust and
told the congregation she wasn't going to play that awful organ anymore. So
the preacher told the congregation it was time for the church to get a new
organ. Britt Ponsett is appointed to the task.

Any of this sound familiar?

Britt doesn't take pledges from the town's leading citizens, instead he goes
from house to house trying to get the money.

This particular show ends just like the TAGS show, with the whole congregation
singing "Bringing In The Sheaves".

I just want to say that anyone who enjoys TAGS, would be delighted to listen to
old time radio. Do yourself a favor and try to find some, it is all over the
internet.
