Today is a big anniversary in the history of TAGS. 50 years ago today, on
Monday, April 19, 1965, CBS broadcast the episode "Opie Flunks Arithmetic" on
The Andy Griffith Show.
This episode would mark the final appearance of Don Knotts as the Deputy
Sheriff of Mayberry. We would see him a few times after that day, but he
would never again be good old loveable Deputy Barney Fife of Mayberry. All
the local loafers had to find someone else to make fun of.
We will meet, but we will miss him.
Makes you wonder how things would have went if Barney had stayed around for the
full 8 year run.
