Hey folks, I finally broke down and got a blu-ray player to watch the 1st season of TAGS in ultra hi-def blu-ray. All I can say is AMAZING!!! It's like being there in Mayberry with the gang. The picture is so clear it's like going from B&W to color for the first time! And speaking of color - the bonus home movies from the set that Ron Howard's parents took are unbelievable. The clips only last for about 8 minutes but in my opinion well worth the cost of the blu-ray set. It shows behind the scenes of filming the opening with Andy and Opie walking to the fishing hole, we see some shots of Myrt "Hubcaps" Lesh, Gomer, Thelma Lou, Helen and Aunt Bee. Just from these few short minutes you can really see the love and respect these actors had for each other. Plus another great bonus is the "Return to Mayberry" movie from the mid 80's with super clear pictures and sound. You also have the option to watch episodes with or without the original sponsor spots. I suggest WITH to see some really rare moments in Mayberry.
Do yourself a favor and head over to Weaver's Department Store and pic up a copy of this wonderful blu-ray collection. You'll see Mayberry in a whole new light!!
