I was watching the Western Movie Channel this morning, and they showed the 1965 James Stewart movie "Shenandoah". Appearing along side Mr. Stewart in the movie was Briscoe Darling as his preacher, Naylor the chicken thrower as a slave owner, and Jim Lindsey as a Johnny Reb soldier.
