A sad farewell to actress Marjorie Lord, who died on November 28 at age 97. Her family, including daughter and actress Ann Archer, waited until a few days ago to release the news to the media
Marjorie appeared in TAGS' pilot episode "Danny Meets Andy Griffith," the Feb. 15, 1960 episode of THE DANNY THOMAS SHOW. In that historic introduction to Mayberry, 'Danny Williams' (Danny Thomas) and his wife 'Kathy' (Lord) are stopped by 'Sheriff Andy Taylor' for running a stop sign. Marjorie's career began in movies in the late 1930s, but for all her credits is best-known for the 7 years she spent costarring on television's THE DANNY THOMAS SHOW. She joined the show in 1957 toward the end of its 4th season when her character, a nurse, met widower 'Danny Williams,' and she became the show's costar with the 5th season when the characters married. Marjorie played 'Kathy Williams' thru the series' end in 1964, and reprised it for two 1960s reunion specials and the 1970 spinoff series MAKE ROOM FOR GRANDDADDY. R.I.P. L.A.
