>>>As we all know, TAGS used Ford automobiles in the show, but now and then,
we see a Chevy in town. Tonight while watching "The Merchant of
Mayberry", near the end of the show, when Ben complains to Andy about a
Stevens
truck in town, when they show Ben, you see a '59 Chevy turning the corner
behind him. They turn the shot back to Andy and Barney, then when they go
back
to Ben, that same '59 Chevy is coming up the same street. Then in the
next shot of Ben, it looks like that same car is backing into a driveway in
the background. Curious, curious.<<<

Ron, good observation. Recently I was listening to Allan's podcast (well,
three or four of them) where he played the interview Neil Brower did with Bruce
Bilson at last year's Mayberry Days. As I recall, when Bruce was talking about
using extras, he said they sometimes had an extra to use his or her own vehicle
for a scene, and I think they received extra pay for that. This would explain
the presence of non-Ford vehicles on the set.

What I don't understand is why Howard Sprague drove a Chevy Impala instead of a
Ford.
