Every Monday afternoon I volunteer at our hospital's Regional Cancer Center. Each week I visit with people who are just beginning treatments, people who are in the middle of treatments and who are very ill, and people who have completed treatments and who have been told they are cancer free. Of course I also visit with people who are terminal and have very little time left. Sometimes it is difficult knowing what to say to people, so when I find this happening I will bring up Mayberry and tell them about my Mayberry Guru gig. I am always so happy that this seems to left their spirits for a while as they talk about how much they enjoy seeing the Andy Griffith Show. For a few minutes they are able to get their mind of something they really enjoy.
