I remember in school I had to remember that Columbus came to America in 1492 so I came up with an easy way to remember it.
First, 1 was easy because I had one sister. Next I remembered 4 by adding nine to 1 and getting 10 and subtracting 8 from that to get 2 and then I doubled the 2 and got 4. So then I had 14 Then for the 9 i thought of 12 eggs in a dozen and that I always ate 2 eggs for breakfast. So I subtracted 2 from 12 and got the 10. Then i subtracted 1 from the 10 because I had 1 missing tooth in the back of my mouth and that gave me the 9.. So then I had 149. Finally, to get the last 2 I thought about the 50 states that we had. I took the 48 states that we had before Hawaii and Alaska became states and I subtracted that from the 50 and ended up with 2. So that gave me the 1492. We also had to memorize the population the United States which was 174,567,231 at that time. I will tell you how I remembered that another time. -- Ken Anderson The Mayberry Guru 2906 May Street Eau Claire, Wisconsin 54701 www.themayberryguru.com www.mayberryreflections.com _______________________________________________ WBMUTBB mailing list [email protected] http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/
