This morning I was watching one of the old 30 minute episodes of Gunsmoke on the Western Channel. The Western Channel calls it Marshal Dillon instead of Gunsmoke. Any way, here was the plot: Chester was writing to his Uncle and letting on how he (Chester) was actually the Marshal of Dodge City. Next thing you know the Uncle shows up in Dodge City expecting to see his nephew as a famous Marshal. Does that plot sound a little familiar? The Uncle was played by Naylor the Chicken Thrower. As an additional Mayberry sub-plot, in this episode Matt was sick with the flu and confined to bed. That sounds like another Mayberry plot, What If Andy Get Sick. Of course we also see George Selk, who played Moss Grimmet in 45 of the early Gunsmoke episodes. George Selk would show up one time as the doctor who examined Goober after he gets whiplash in the TAGS episode Mind Over Matter.
