I was watching episode #41, "Aunt Bee's Brief Encounter. Mr. Wheeler helps around the house only to have Andy actually install the shingles on the Taylor home. I was taken by the camera shot of Andy on the second story roof coming down from the ladder. I noticed NO gutters, or 'eaves troughs' as they used to be referred. I believe Gomer actually offered to clean out Andy's 'eaves troughs' in episode # 118, Andy Saves Gomer.
Why did the Taylor home have no gutters? Was that common in NC in the 1950s and 1960s?
