I am reading an Irish novel. In the story there is a woman who has three children and no husband and it is Christmas time. The village doctor wants to find a way to get the woman some money so she can buy Christmas gifts. So he organizes a raffle for a turkey. Also when they sell the tickets they tell everyone that if someone gets a ticket with four similar digits on it, such as 8888, and if their number is drawn, they not only win the turkey, but they will win 75% of the raffle money. So they make sure the woman is given the ticket 4444 when she gets her ticket and then they have a printer make lots of tickets with 4444 on it. When it comes time for the drawing only the tickets with 4444 are in the hat, so obviously she wins. Now this sounds just like something Sheriff Taylor would do for good old Henry Bennett, doesn't it?
