I believe that the episode that had Andy explaining vanity to Opie was the one where Andy was getting ready for the Chamber of Commerce Dance. Andy had just had Floyd give him a haircut and opie wanted to know why he asked Floyd to give him a haircut but to not make it look like he had just had a haircut. He made a remark about that being vanity and Opie wanted to know if that had something to do with Aunt Bee's dressing table. I could be wrong, but I think that was the episode.
