Actress Janet Waldo died on Sunday, June 12 at age 96. Janet appeared in "A Wife For Andy" as 'Amanda.' Uncredited, she is reported to have done the voiceover of 'Aunt Bee' in RETURN TO MAYBERRY (1986).
Hundreds of radio/TV/film credits over the years, and Ms. Waldo was primarily a voiceover actress in animation, notably at the Hanna-Barbera studios from the 1960s - 1980s. Her most familiar credits are as the voices of 'Judy Jetson' on THE JETSONS where she worked with TAGS' Howard Morris, 'Penelope Pitstop' in WACKY RACES / THE PERILS OF PENELOPE PITSTOP, and 'Josie' in JOSIE & THE PUSSYCATS costarring with our Jackie Joseph. She also is often recognized as the 'Ricky Ricardo' starstruck 'Peggy' in the I LOVE LUCY episode "The Young Fans," where she guest-starred with actor and TAGS director Richard Crenna. In the 1940s and 1950s Janet starred on CBS radio's MEET CORLISS ARCHER, and her boyfriend on that series was played by Sam Edwards, aka TAGS' 'Lester Scobey' and 'Sam Muggins.' A very talented actress who will be missed.
