I think it is interesting that in the 60's, Barney lived in a boarding house and Thelma Lou lived in a house on her own. Now I know Barney was cheap, but Thelma Lou must have had a good paying job being a woman at that time. My Aunt was single living in Charlotte, worked at the phone company (like Sarah) and rented out a room in her house. Helen, being a teacher in a small town, lived in a house, too.
