60's vs the 30's

In regard to what Janet wrote, ""

I've been reading the various posts debating whether TAGS was set in the
1960s or the 1930s. I think the answer, really, is BOTH. It was
chronologically set in the 1960s, yes. When you see the fashions, the
cars, etc., you can see that the show was made and set in the sixties.
However, the mood of the show, the tone, the attitude--whatever you want to
call it--seems to be from an earlier time. The slower pace and the
emphasis on a simpler time and a less complicated way of life reflect an
earlier time period, such as the thirties. So I don't think there's an
either-or answer to this question, but rather a both-and answer. TAGS was
literally set in the 1960s but was figuratively set in the 1930s or
thereabouts. At least, that's how I see it.

When watchig that interview in the past, I too oncluded that's exactly
what Andy Griffith meant. He meant it figuratively, and not literally,
especially when it came to values, morals and ethics.

Times change, people dont.
