We sometimes referred to church service as going to preaching. And some churches we attended over the years, being in the military, had a minister who had a full-time job in another field so was not available every day to attend to the needs of the congregants. Others had a full-time clergyman who visited the flock and counselled, conducted ceremonies, etc. on a nearly daily basis. He was furnished a house and automobile thru the tithing of the congregation. Every church was different except those actually on the base, where a chaplain has only that one job but it's a big one, depending on how many GIs on that base and how many chaplains on duty at any particular time. Those who answer the call of God to minister are truly to be admired and cherished IMHO.
