I googled this but couldn't find an answer. If a gun does not have any
bullets in it, as Barney's often did not, when you pull the trigger,
does it still make a noise? I've often wondered that whenever his went
off in Mayberry too. Even way out in the country, the bullet that goes
straight up into the air comes down somewhere and could cause injury or
damage. And all those misfires in the courthouse with the mayor upstairs
confused me too. Let's face it, a loaded gun in Barney's holster spelled
potential disaster!
