Re Ken Anderson's question about choosing a roommate from the TAGS cast: If looser "Three's Company" rules applied, I'd house-share with Thelma Lou...although I'd have to summon the will power not to eat cashew fudge every day.
But given the decorum of Mayberry frowning on such gender cohabitation, I'd choose Howard Sprague (post-mother, and post-bachelor pad) as a roommate. He keeps a nice house and enjoys reading.
