That was a great observation by Thelma about the guy sitting on the stool
in front of Mayor Stoner at the barber shop who suddenly disappeared.
I've watched "The Loaded Goat" many times and had never noticed that.

I have a question about another guy in another episode, which I'm sure
someone over the years has answered. In "Opie and the Spoiled Kid", there
is an older man, wearing a hat, sitting on a bench in front of the court
house. He is whittling something, and, in 2 different scenes, Andy and
Barney each stop to examine the object he is whittling and talk to him. The
man is silent - he just smiles.. Does anyone know who this guy is? The
role is uncredited. It seems unusual that a background actor was featured
twice in an episode with no speaking role - almost like the man must have
been a friend or relative of Andy or one of the producers or writers on the
show.
