Great article, Ken - especially the part thanking all those who serve locally in "thankless" jobs.
With respect to Mayberry, I enjoyed the roles played by both mayors. The writers apparently were pretty cynical, since Mayor Pike and Mayor Stoner both were portrayed as bumbling, kind of pompous politicians who would change their positions whichever way the wind was blowing. I liked it when Andy turned out always to be right at the end, in his modest, homespun, commonsense way.
