Although i've watched bits and pieces of the classic 50's horror film "The Blob" before, I never paid much attention to the cast, except for Steve McQueen. Saturday night, MeTV's "Svengoolie" showed the movie, and I was surprised to see Aneta Corsaut a/k/a "Helen Crump" as McQueen's young girlfriend, Jane. She showed some of the same spunky attitude that Helen displayed a few years later on TAGS, especially when she made a caustic comment to one of the policemen.
During a commercial break, Svengoolie did a corny, but clever, spoof of the TAGS theme song, comparing Mayberry to the town featured in the movie.
