I was in New Orleans last week for a conference and had a couple good Mayberry connections.
We had dinner at Antoine's and it has photos of famous people who had eaten there (plus Sazerac, Baked Alaska, and escargot on the menu). My friend found the Don Knotts autographed Barney Fife picture. Interestingly, there is an Escargot Club that has their own room in the back. They were pretty dressed up in the photos, so I'm guessing they ate the snails rather than step on them. The next day we toured the Sazerac House distillery and I learned all about the "New Orleans drink" and got to enjoy the city's official drink. The good things you learn from The Andy Griffith Show.
