Growing up in the South, I just took it for granted that everyone said funny 
things. I was held hostage in NJ for 5 years and no one understood a thing I 
said.....Hit the lights (turn it/them off), crack the window (open just a 
little bit). And when someone said "Study/studying on that" you knew they were 
serious, meaning you need to do your homework on a subject.  All Southern 
phrases. Same as "take a think".   And Y'all  means "you all". Always plural, 
NEVER single.
