I think it was kind of wrong for Howard not to invite Emmett and his wife over simply because they were married. I mean he let Andy and Helen come over and they weren't married ... they were definitely a couple. After seeing Emmett put a show on the dance floor, I can only assume Emmett and Martha would have been a great addition to the party.
