Matthew, I'm sorry to hear about your mom. You might try checking around for a B & B or an airbnb in the area. I know that folks stay in those, we've had friends do that. That might be your best bet for somewhere in Mount Airy. Otherwise you will probably have to stay out a little bit away from Mount Airy, like Pilot Mountain or Fancy Gap, etc.
