actually with css you can write three or more css files and let
the user or client click on a JavaScript link to choose one of
the files rather than having them choose fonts or sizes which as
you know can cause havoc with a well laid out page.

Each css file could have different images, table colors, bg
colors and fonts to give the site a personal look.

: J.R.,
:
: To allow for administrative control of the content I create an
admin
: directory.
:
: Each section needs to have add, insert, edit and update pages.
For each
: field you wish to allow the client to be able to control, you
need to be
: able to input/update this information in the database. Just
basic SQL
: queries to the database; Select, Insert, Update, Delete.
:
:
: Admin defaults to a login page.
:
: I've never allowed the client to be able to change the CSS, I
suppose it
: could be done, but I'm not sure you really want to allow that.

: Subject: [wdvltalk] Customer editable web pages.
:
:
: New reader here...
:
: I am familiar with HTML and CSS. I have done a little
handcoding in ASP for
: very minor data stuff (simple SELECT and INSERTs primarily, and
for dynamic
: assembly of pages (if ...then... include "content" stuff). Used
primarily
: Frontpage 2000, but am moving into Dreamweaver MX. PHP seems to
be popular
: here, but I've never used it. I am primarily VBSCRIPT/ASP.
:
: My question is this: I need some strategic direction in
creating web pages
: that my customers can update. Its simple enough to create a
database to pull
: items out of and place into a predetermined cell. But what
about when the
: customer wants to change font faces, sizes or colors? Wants to
insert a
: picture? How do you handle that?
:
: I would be interested in how others have solved this problem.
:
: Thanks,
