This sounds very practical and I agree. Now ... what about checking web
pages in NS4x versions? How many people are still doing that? I know
... ongoing war I'm sure ... but the topic came up again around here
just a day or so ago, so thought I'd ask. I know there was a post put
here not long ago that said user issues are down to like 4% ..

Tim:
One of our largest clients (over 5,000 seats) still uses Netscape 4.7x
for their installed company browser, so I have to make sure that it runs
well in NN4.7x. I don't worry about anything below NN4.71. I've
managed to have our site look nearly identical across IE4+ and NN4+
using the same code. If it wasn't for this situation I could probably
talk the powers that be into going all CSS with just making sure it
doesn't bomb in NN4x.

Last time I ran stats on our site, I had:
   IE5.x - 54%
   IE6.x - 39%
   NN4.x - 2%
   Opera - 2%
   NN3.x - 2%
   NN6.x, AOL, others < 1%

I'm guessing a fair bit of the Opera and NN6.x hits are my testing. :-)
