Hi all, Forgive my late entrance on this one - been working stupid hours all week transferring our huge website from one dodgy NT box to another (which gave the same problems, surprise surprise) and finally moved it all over to a Linux box (which just sits there and serves, no problems).
Anyway, to add to the "No-right click" script arguments, it's even easier to get round them than turning off Javascript. Most right-click scripts only respond to a single click of the right mouse button - your solution? Press and hold the left mouse button over the image, now click the right one. With most no-right click scripts, they won't block it and you'll get your right-click menu. I have to agree with everyone, the ONLY 100% secure way to stop someone from taking your copy/images/code etc from the web is not to put it on the web in the first place. Most techniques used in an attempt to stop it don't work, they just infuriate the user or cause big browser incompatibility problems. Some techniques make it harder for absolute newbies to take your image, but I'd imagine for most people with at least some computer knowledge, trying to stop them from taking the images is probably going to be seen as a challenge, and they'll try even harder to do it. Probably the best solution, if they are sample graphics, would be to put "SAMPLE" across the image, so it's pretty much useless for anyone to have. Even PDFs, which have access controls and everything, can't stop you from getting the images in them. A simple screen grab (Alt + Print Screen, copy into your graphics program, crop it down) will always do the job. Cheers all Dave P On Monday 21 October 2002 12:23 am, Cheryl D.
