Hi,

You all know that there is daylight savings time change yesterday (Oct 27) in US. After the auto adjustment when first turning on my WinMe PC yesterday, I discovered a weird bug: the AM/PM part of the system clock was reversed and couldn't be adjusted or corrected (yeah, I tried the control panel, date/time, ... it didn't work). I was surprised at how this could happen? I tried everything I could think of: change time zone to any other one and change it back, change date, time, and change them back, reboot, restart, ... everything was fine except the AM/PM that shown at right-bottom corner of my screen! Since I bought my computer from Dell, I thought why not call tech support and I did even knowing that it was Sunday afternoon. Surprisingly, it only took a minute getting a real person asking my account info. More interestingly, the guy told me he was in India! (he did have India accent) Does this (use other country personnel) happen to be deployed by other vendors' tech support system?

Anyway, the guy seemed eager to help and guided me doing several standard steps which I already did with no good. Next, he guided me to enter the Safe Mode and suddenly my mouse stopped working and it's hardly anything I could do in that Safe Mode ... So I had to shut down from the power button and reboot. After that, the guy wanted me to do "restore system". I refused because he couldn't give me reasonable and definite evidence of doing that and he couldn't guarantee it won't mess up my system. His last resort was telling me to call another tech support ....

Here I am not blaming Dell's support service or the guy's inability of solving the problem. I am just wondering what's the heck of this bug? It seems to be so simple or basic to solve or dig its evil course, but .... Did anyone experience this before? how did you resolve it? Thanks

KoaFar
