Analog.cx is free, the install is a little more thinking, but nothing that
someone computer and web literate wouldn't be able to handle. It has a
wealth of reports available to it, but requires more work on your part to
figure out what the reports *actually* mean. As well, if you want pretty
reports, it's one more thing to configure yourself using something like
Report Magic.

Sawmill is really easy to install, the reports by default come out pretty,
and they do a little extra "analyzing" to give you a clearer picture of
what your site traffic is really like. It comes with a price, but it's nothing
extravagant and most would say worth it.

If you like to roll your own, go with Analog.cx and Report Magic;
otherwise spend a little $ for something with good value like Sawmill.
Used both, like em both.
