my apologies, the alerts were just to try and track down where the error is occuring 
at.  I have removed the hidden fields entirely as per BJ's suggestion (thx) and am now 
having the array built in ASP and am now accessing the variables created there in my 
javascript.  
wow.  I think I need to cut back on the coffee some, my head feels like its going to 
explode.
