'Quite some client' indeed, Joseph - They have their moments... If you've a WHSmith newsagent near you, you may even see the Book Awards point-of-sale material on this one! They've been really good in the press release about acknowledging the part we've played - and they were absolutely over the moon that we went live on deadline at 00.01am... And compared to the World Cup prediction project we ran in the summer, this client has indeed been a joy to work with.
I'm really sorry I couldn't ask you guys to 'field trial' the online voting on this one but the client was understandably paranoid about the Book Awards short list getting out ahead of the press launch... it was someone else's questions here on WDVL about pop-up windows that gave a pointer to the solution to the 'how do you get all that damn info on the screen' problem. This is the first time WHSmith has had text voting on the Book awards [which is what we bid for originally as mobile apps is what we do] & wound up running the online side too. It's also the first project with a major corporate sponsor for our Textaid joint venture which is my 'baby' so I'm really pleased it's gone well.
