I have a client who had a domain registered with Network Solutions. Network Solutions screwed up and lost the email address associated with the account and didn't properly credit the renewal. The domain went 'down' while we tried to get the name issue straightened out with Network Solutions. In the meantime we registered another name and put the new site up under the new name. After about 6 weeks I was finally able to get the original domain name 'restored' to active with Network Solutions.
I immediately transferred it to another registrar that in addition to being considerably cheaper also had the option for domain redirection which is what we did. If you type in their old url you will be directed seamlessly to the new site. So in my client's case it cost's them $8.88 per year to keep the old domain name so if anyone still has a bookmark and is using it (Google dropped it from their database while it was down and I doubt any other search engine still has it either.) they will get the new site. Could be end of day brain cramp. If you keep both domain names going as separate sites, don't you have to pay for server space twice? I know the domain name fee is a paltry one but space seems pricier usually. ____ The WDVL Discussion List from WDVL.COM ____ To Join wdvltalk, Send An Email To: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Send Your Posts To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To change subscription settings to the wdvltalk digest version: http://wdvl.internet.com/WDVL/Forum/#sub ________________ http://www.wdvl.com _______________________ You are currently subscribed to wdvltalk as: [email protected] To unsubscribe send a blank email to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
